Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?

I am pretty new to forums. I must admit, I have received a number of warnings on a different forum for not following the rules. Now I didn't do anything to harm anyone. But I did mention the name of another forum - suspended. I posted (by accident) on a different thread - had to take a test and I mentioned an outside communication method - post removed and warning.

I totally understand establishing etiquette on forums. I am in no way opposed to following reasonable rules. I have no intention of being rude or harassing anyone here. I am not here to scam anyone. I am here to learn, discuss and understand.

I have to say, I find great irony in the amount of censorship in these environments; an environment where people's identities are masked and disinhibition allows people to communicate more openly. The rule book is extensive on many forums and some of the rules don't on the surface appear to serve much of a purpose. If one of the creeds of the hacker ethic is information should be free and learning should not be impeded . . . why so many rules????

the structure of a good forum depends on the established rules, if you have doubts about any rule, it is best to talk to the moderators of the forum. They will be able to explain the reasons for the rule.

It's not censorship. Moderators have to enforce rules, because otherwise this forum would be full of spammers

I don't think rules exist for a reason
