Article says "has discovered billions upon billions of exposed records on an open instance." - I'm dumb so explain this: like all this data was on a public website? or a random AWS kinda instance? or they dug through some network to find it?

Unlikely to be a public website, since it sounds like it's just an accumulation of every major breach from years. Could have been an open HTTP directory listing or even just a large Mega collection.

I wonder if it has any much vallid information in it, will the email adresses still be vallid and stuff, but it's nice to have acces to such a big database. the bigger the better
